Introduction
In mid-90's in Beijing, on the street theater playing traditonal shows and popular shows. Yuan Ping, an ex-actor of the Beijing opera, gets on the stage as a third-rate singer with perverted costume on. The ambiguous face which is difficult to assume if it's male of female stares at the audience obliquely from the screen. The short, but impressive and frail expression, the movenments of fingers grasping at the air still and quietly, and the chilly fluttering of tents stays at the aftermoon of Beijing for a moment. From the montages connecting parts, a single shoe and the movements of hands, and the mumbling voice like noise, we can just assume the blazing traces of a Beijing opera. We see the ashamed smile of Yuan Ping who gets on the circus stage and acts strange performances with hiding the disappearing passion painfully. (b-won Lee)
