Introduction
Youngsters are gambling all night on the eve of the New Year in a small city of Shansi, China. In front of his house where he returned empty-handed, Shaobin turns around agaun toward the crowed dountown area. A man visits from door to door, carrying a lot of gifts for the New-Year greetings, and other guy is stealing his goods. While having noodles silently nearby, Shaobin is arrested by the police without knowing the reason. He is driven into a tight corner due to the disturbance of the pickpocket. what is now left to him is only the choice, 500 yuan in fine or 15 days of detention. This is a meta version of "Xia Wu", or a short film in which you confirm the self-proliferation of "Shansi film" that could be called a new genre. This film is also a variation or repetition of the post-Jia Zhangke generation's production. (b-won Lee)
