The beginning of Narrow & Chilled shows a man dancing on the rooftop along with an attentive father making a swing for his child by drilling a hole on the ceiling, However, these somewhat uneasy images brought out by such non-everyday life space and/or place soon turn into a reality as it creates breakup in mother's daily routines as shopping for food at local supermaket, changing film's mood instantly. The film now donsists of mixed up temporal discourse as it progresses under bleak and gloomy atmosphere, interchanging images of mother and daughter traumatized by the death of the father, images that may be real or dream. Economic depression that's been going on since the late 90's has brought various social problems such as unemployment and rise in number of suicides committed. Narrow & Chilled directly reflect such problems and, in addition, show quite pessimistic outlook about the present and the future as shown in neurotic nature of mother and daughter that gets acclimated with the death of the daughter.
