Introduction
Charlotte returns to visit her ex-boyfriend Jules, but how indifferent she seems! The mysterious politics of their love that unfolds in a room just for 15 minutes is cheerfully described by gestures and movements only. Nothing would be more sorry if there were not enough discourese in the film by Jean-Luc Godard. But, in fact, Jules delivers a tirade containing some anger and reproach to Charlotte as if she represented the whole women of the world. As can be guessed from title, Jules already belongs to Charlotte in the dynamics of relations, and he cannot control her. The director utilizes shadows as dramatic devices through exaggerated lighting at time, moving his camera around the entire room, and incorporates a cross-rhythm between persona or a landscape of persona through cutting off the size of the screen and expressions.
